Aircraft Dispatch
Aircraft Dispatchers share joint legal responsibility for the flight with the Captain. They plan the route, calculate fuel, monitor weather, and manage in-flight emergencies from the operations center.
The Fast Track to the Airlines
Unlike pilots who need 1,500 hours or mechanics who need 18+ months of training, a dispatcher certificate can be earned in 5-6 weeks of intensive full-time study.
Basic Requirements (FAR Part 65.53)
- Be at least 23 years of age (can test at 21, but certificate held until 23).
- Read, speak, write, and understand English.
- Pass the ADX (Aircraft Dispatcher) written knowledge test.
- Pass a practical test (oral and practical flight planning exam).
